Don't Get Frustrated Because All
People In College Will Slip For A Short Period of Time...
Ah, the dreaded Academic Probation...most college students have a dreaded moment of stress because they are worried they are going to get kicked out of college. Then they get all down on themselves because they feel like a failure; reality is you don't go to college for four years and not have life affect you in some way that interferes with the education.
I know, it sucks; extra cash, longer college and the pressure of being watched academically, as well as worrying about financial aid can be more than one can bear. Don't let yourself sink there. I can tell you what to expect in situations like this, because guess what? I just finished going through it. So let me lay it down the line for you.
Basically, each college does have their own set of standards that must be adhered to. For instance, in order to be considered satisfactory in the college I attend, I can't get lower than a C; ever. Okay, so I had a rough time due to a problem with my financial aide, that was eventually fixed, but unfortunately caused me to go into a slump and shut down by the time things fell in order. I had two courses I was taking at the same time, quarterly, and failed both! It was the one time stress did not work in my favor! I was so nervous about being kicked out of college at this moment in time that my stomach was hurting, I became depressed, etc.
That's when I discovered I got a second chance, but I was still bumming due to the GPA level dropping. Come to find out, yes, you have one more time to take the class and if you fail, well, then you are out, but if you pass, they don't keep the bad grade you had, they replace it with the higher one. ;) That's good news....another chance to keep the GPA high.
Now, the only sucky thing I can honestly say about all of this besides the emotional roller coaster, is the fact you have a limited time frame to retake your courses and the fact it doesn't matter financial aid says your GPA is high enough to keep going after you fail a second time. Most colleges will give the second try at the class and then booted. So make sure you stay on top of things, keep yourself motivated after the hardship (if it happens) and stay focused no matter what you are going through; especially if you are being watched. It's not just financial aid you have to worry about; you must follow the criteria the college has set up, which in my case, is much stiffer than the rules for financial aid. ;)
